Chris has performed in over 40 US States, including Hawaii, and in England and Ireland. He has lived, worked, and studied in New York, Boston, Seattle, and his current home, Los Angeles.
He presently heads a rotating trio with some of L.A.’s top musicians, including: bassist Hal Cragin (Iggy Pop, Sarah McLachlan, Rufus Wainwright); bassist Mike Watt (The Stooges, The Minutemen, Firehose); bassist Erik Kertes (Sara Garaznek); guitarist Joshua Grange (Dwight Yoakam); drummer D.J. Bonebrake (X, The Knitters); drummer Steve Hodges (Tom Waits, Smashing Pumpkins, David Lynch); drummer Steve Nistor (Daniel Lanois); and drummer Walfredo Reyes, Jr. (Steve Winwood, David Lindley).
Chris Murphy also composes music for Film and Television; teaches guitar, violin and mandolin; and produces solo and collaborative independent albums. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Mass.
 ABOUT THE MURPH
1994: Chris moves back to New York City, works as a freelance violinist, produces Folk rock albums, and plays in a Gypsy band.

1997: Accepts invitation to move to Seattle to become Music Director at the OWL & THISTLE nightclub. Develops an addiction to coffee and and aversion to rain, however he does a lot of sailing on the Puegot Sound and studies classical violin. Spilling a drink on Eddie Vedder is as close as he comes to the grunge movement.....

1998: Forms his trio, PONTICELLO, goes on the road performing his original music and records his 4 albums, DARK SKIES, DOWN LIKE MERCURY, THE ESCAPE ARTIST, and COTTON DIESEL with this line-up.
